Geneva, 22 May 2018 - The Waypoint Capital Group today announces that it has appointed Mr. Ron Cami as its new Group General Counsel. Mr. Cami will report to Waypoint’s Chairman, Mr. Ernesto Bertarelli, and serve as a member of the Group’s board of directors. Mr. Cami will have a central role in partnership with Mr. Stefan Meister, the Group Chief Operating Officer of Waypoint, in helping to create and then deliver the group’s strategy for future business development and growth.
Mr. Cami joins Waypoint from Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where he was a partner in its Corporate Department in Northern California and New York, leading the firm’s private equity practice. From 2010 to 2016 he was Partner and General Counsel of TPG Global in San Francisco, prior to which he was a partner in the Corporate Department of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York. In his career he has accrued deep experience in acting for both private equity and corporate clients and has extensive knowledge in the full range of M&A transactions, all aspects of private equity transactions, joint ventures, partnerships, shareholder activism and corporate governance issues.
Mr. Cami is a visiting professor at Berkeley School of Law, where he teaches classes on the law of M&A transactions. He received his professional qualification from Rutgers University School of Law in 1993, having completed a B.A. at Harvard College in 1989. Following Law School and through 1994, Mr. Cami clerked for Judge Kevin Thomas Duffy in U.S. District Court in New York City.
